Impress with your Expression

Vintage.....

After a long day, you find your old photo albums, and look at those aged photos of your family and friends, recall all those wonderful moments captured in time..... You relive those tiny emotions and remember why life is beautiful. A sense of gratitude engulfs and you are thankful for everything in life.

From the age of 5, I have been dancing and I still do. Dance is everything to me. Dance has taught me that any sense of direction to my future should come out from my own hands. But I had to leave behind this passion in the journey of life. Thanks to my family, I realised that it's never too late to follow my dreams. I set out on a path to make my dream a reality and decided to follow my passion. Now I have my own Dance School, which completed 10 years in 2016. This reflection contributed to engage myself in arts too, my other passion.

In 1995, I realised that Dance is my life. I didn't want to forget anything that my teacher ever taught... not only dance, but the discipline, dedication and commitment. That is when I decided I would pen them down. I started writing down the songs I learnt and used codes for the adavus and mudras, so that I remember what I have written. And guess what.. I have drawn the poses too as stick figures.😁

So now moving on to what I have created... I made a layout for my dance book. I have combined 2 blog challenges, Papericious November Challenge with Vintage Theme and Scrap Our Stash November Tic Tac Toe Challenge.

For my layout, I chose the last vertical column of The Colour Brown, Burlap and Oval shape from the tic tac toe board and combined with Vintage theme.

First I adhered burlap over the entire book.

Next I took my favourite verse from my old Dance book and got a photocopy of the same as I didn't want to ruin the book by tearing the page. The photocopied page looked so new but I wanted an old weathered look. So I decided to tear the paper around the edges to get an irregular oval shape and crumpled the same. With Old Paper distress ink, I distressed the entire paper. And with vintage photo distress ink, I distressed the edges to highlight the old crumpled look. Looks like I've achieved what I had in mind.

Then I took the left over chippies from my previous projects and embossed them with Vintage photo Distress ink and clear embossing powder.

I took the Papericious Camera Shaker boards and used vintage photo all over it and ground espresso around the edges. I then stuck my black and white dance photo to it. Ya.... that's me😁

Finally I layered the chippies, paper, camera and embellished them with flowers and leaves to give the vintage look. Tada... my layout is ready.
