Crackled Tulips

Did you know that the Netherlands have the world's largest permanent display of tulips at the Keukenhof, one of the tourist spots in my bucket list. Tulips are spring blooming perennials that grow from bulbs. The large tulip flowers bloom with leaves in a rosette at ground level and a single flowering stalk arising from amongst the leaves. By now you would've guessed....
Hello and a very good day to you all. Today I'm at the Craft Shop Blog with yet another tutorial on one stroke painting...only this time, it is on glass jar. and yes, you guessed it right! today's tutorial features the temptress - Tulips.

Materials Required:

Glass Vase
Plaid folkart one stroke carousel
Plaid Folkart One stroke brushes
Plaid folkart Multisurface Paint Cardinal Red
Plaid Folkart Multisurface Paint Daffodil Yellow
Plaid Folkart Multisurface Paint Titanium White
Plaid Folkart Multisurface Paint Orange
Plaid Folkart Multisurface Paint Classic Green
Plaid Folkart Multisurface Paint Look at me blue
Plain Folkart Multisurface Paint Lime Green
Plaid Folkart Brushed Metal Dark Grey
Plaid Folkart Brushed Metal Silver
Plaid Folkart Crackle Medium


Let's begin!!🎉

Clean the glass jar with cotton dipped in spirit. Cover the glass jar with brushed metallics Dark gray base coat and allow it to dry.

Take folkart crackle medium and apply a thin coat over the entire surface of the jar. Do not apply thick coat.

When it is semidry, apply metallic silver all over. You will see cracks apppearing immediately. Let it dry completely.

Let us start with our tulips. I mixed cardinal red with look at me blue. Voila!! we got a nice purple colour.  I loaded my flat brush with this and white. With wiggling stroke, draw the petals. Add few more flowers. If you observe closely, you will see cracks on the flowers as well. I am soooo in love with this effect.😍

Next load the brush with classic green on one edge and lime green on the other edge. Now touch the lime green edge with white and blend. Now make the leaves. This is a longer stroke.

Add the stems for the flowers. 

Load the small scruffy with orange and yellow and do the tick ticks...Oops... It is the wisteria flower done with tapping or bounching the brush. I generally refer to it as tick ticks.😜

The entire composition will look incomplete, if you don't add the tender veins.  

I still felt it was incomplete and went on to add some more tick ticks,😜 only this time with a script liner brush dipped in white and a touch of yellow.

Tada.... The vase is ready.
