Coming from a traditional background and being a classical dancer, I'm always attracted to Indian God forms. The stories and myths associated with the Gods and Goddesses have always fascinated me. They helped me a lot in my dance career.
Ganesha, the elephant faced God is my pal... my bestie. Lord Shiva, also known as Lord Nataraja, the supreme one and the father of Ganesha, is the lord of dance. Shiva is almost always associated with anger. But he also has the other side, where he is calm and serene. In this painting I have tried capturing the calmness of Shiva.
Here's my Creative Crew work for the Canvas Corp Brand May Challenge - Watercolours.
On Canvas Corp Tight weave Burlap, I sketched the design. Then with Shilpakar, a compound that is similar to clay, gave the outlines of the bells, dividers, and Trishul, the weapon below the face. This compound dries in less than an hour. While this was drying, I gave a little texture on the background around the face and sides with Fevicol, a type of glue which dries transparent.
With Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists Basic Kit collection of Red, Blue, Green and Yellow, I coloured the background. The coat of fevicol restricts the colour to seep underneath, through the burlap. When the colour was still wet, added a coat of Rustic Glimmer Glam here and there to get the brownish green effect.
With Fevicryl Acrylic colours coloured the shilpakar work and gave outline with black. Finally got it framed.
