Discover Your Purpose

"You are Beautiful. You are Wonderful. You make a difference in the world just by being you. "
What a thought! How often do we plan a day for ourselves, let alone dedicate the day??? Within the busy schedule of running around and getting the chores done, it's so hard to just relax, find space for a little 'me time'. Then came the knight in shining armour - The Splashy Mix Challenge theme... make something for yourself.  So I created my DT project for the blog with my photo and it gave me the chance to endorse a thought I truly believe in and one that I would undeniably quote at least once a day. Let all of us from henceforth spend at least a good half hour for ourselves. Be it relaxing with a book or going crazy with the paints.
For me the two most important things in the world(after my husband and children of course), are Dance and Art - the flavours of my life. They have taken me on such wonderful journeys and taught me to truly enjoy being me. I cannot imagine one without the other. They keep inspiring me in every way possible.

Yes that's the photo of me!!!

The step by step tutorial is here.
Applied modelling paste through a stencil.
Applied a coat of Distress Crackle Paint where I have not covered with modelling paste. I really love the tiny Crackles got from the paint.
Stamped the Old Book page rubber stamp image from Rubber dance with Archival Ink Watering Can.
Spritzed Lindy's Whale Watch Blue on the canvas and layered the same till I was happy with the look.
Took some Dusty Attic Chipboards and covered them with Immix Metallic Paint Gun Metal.
Sprayed the Whale Watch Blue over a CrafTreat Stencil on a petal shaped canvas.
Heat embossed the Dusty Attic Chipboard with versamark and Lindy's Embossing Powder Black Forest black.
Heat set a wooden frame with Versamark and Silver embossing powder.
Now comes the fun part. I wanted to use the rust paste but felt the colour a little dull. So I mixed the paste with Lindy's Magical shaker Cuckcoo Clock Cardinal. I got this brilliant shade of rust red. I instantly fell in love with this colour.
I used this awesome colour on the embellishments.
Now started arranging the layers. I have used a few embellishments and really old unusable brushes from my stash. You can see a small piece of lace too. That was my favourite last piece. It is no longer available in the market.
Sprayed Lindy's Salt Water Taffy and Rambling Rose Pink on the die cuts and pollens.
Now adhered all the flowers and die cuts and other embellishments like the metal scissors and art palette from my old stash.

Mixed the Prima Art stones and Mini Art Stones with Lindy's Magical Shaker Cuckoo Clock Cardinal and Soft Gloss Gel. Applied this to enhance the layout.
Rubbed the Art Alchemy wax Royal robes and Ink Gold Old Silver over the embellishments and dry brushed white gesso all over to mute the vibrancy of the layout. Adhered some Melange Art Pebbles and sprinkled some sparkling dust. As a tribute to my dance I have also added a few ghungroos( metal bells which we tie in our ankles while dancing) which you can see below the word Discover.  Finally added few black splashes and adhered my quote.
Here are a few closeups.
